WWI War Brides in the News

Lethbridge Herald, September 1919

Thousands of young women married Canadian Expeditionary Force soldiers stationed overseas in Europe and came to Canada during and after the First World War. Most of the women were from the British Isles, but a number of them also came from France and Belgium.

Ninety years later we still know very little about the Canadian WWI War bride experience. Here are just a few of the hundreds of news stories I have collected about these war brides over the past five years.
